Hi readers! Welcome to Philippines’ Online Dress Club wherein you’ll get to read (and hopefully learn) more about really dressing up. Well okay, I know most of us watch too much TV and might have been so hooked with fashion related shows and stuff like that already. But I tell you, this will be something different. What’s the difference? I knew you’d ask that =). Well, the Big D is that we’ll be doing this the real deal Filipino style.

Our country, as we all know it (or might’ve noticed), is trying to keep up gradually to major fashion trends from the West and other neighboring countries. That’s just great. In fact, it’s awesome! The only problem we have to deal with now is what really happens next.

I know we have been struggling with fashion like forever. What with the influence of MTV, The Secret World of Alex Mack, Claire Danes, Dawson’s Creek, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, you name it. That’s because we all thought they’d look really good on us the way they – icons of some sort – can make it look good on them. Example of this is when you started wearing those jumpers with matching reversed cap like Alex Mack, dressed up as Posh, Scary or Sporty Spice for a group picture with friends, dressed up like the teenage witch, like Claire Danes and then like Joey Potter, the Backstreet boys and then Nsync and so much more. Now, if you’d start thinking about it – applying genetics and race – you’ll figure that you really did looked absolutely “not nice” back then.

So here we are. Fast forward to the year 2000s, where everywhere you look there is a fashion icon, or a reality TV star re-inventing MC hammer pants or his girl counterpart in chunky platform shoes, or a good girl gone bad Marilyn Monroe wannabe. Don’t be fooled easily. And don’t you dare wear anything until you’ve really, really, REALLY checked yourself in the mirror. Or better yet check us out. In our blog you’d be able find tips on how to really dress up. Whether it be finding what to wear for some simple occasions like watching a movie with a date, going for a night out with friends, going to your acquaintance party, chillin’ at the park and many more. We’ll have articles for all the Ladies to enjoy and likewise for the Gentlemen’s. So all you have to do is keep us on your list and we’ll make sure we can help you dress up in peace.
